Museum Director

Alana was born and raised in North Texas, is a graduate from W. T. White High School in Dallas,
and an 8th generation Texan. She is married with two married sons and one grandson.
Alana graduated from North Central College in Naperville, IL, with a B.A. in history with an art

fashion and entertaining. She received a research grant and has done research at several
institutions across the country. She has presented several historical research projects at a variety

enjoyed working with community groups, providing educational opportunities, and developing
exhibits. Her exhibit “Capturing Culture: The Diverse Works of John Phillips,” was given an
Award of Excellent by the Illinois Association of Museum. A family move to Tucson provided
Alana with the opportunity to work for the Tucson Desert Art Museum. In addition to collections
management, she wrote a grant, did educational programming, and curated the exhibit “Colors to
Dye For.”
She and her husband moved back to McKinney in 2019. She is an active member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Alana enjoys
reading, cooking, and genealogy. She and her husband enjoy traveling and spending time with
their family.
